The Best Thing I've Heard All Week

A brilliant friend of mine called her new boyfriend a 'gentleman savage' on Facebook this week, and it struck a chord in me. It...

No photo description available.

#100HappyDays: Day 12
This is an old photo, but we had so much fun at Game Night tonight that Charlie (Charles Bruno) had to use his inhaler because he had an asthma attack from laughing so hard. Good times.

Stay-cation Day 9: July 6, 2014

Stay-cation Day 9: A mostly regular Sunday. Reel 2 Real Church, lunch, house/pet sitting, cleaning, relaxing and hanging out. Derek and I went out for ice cream and a car wash. Charles Bruno came over for a while, and we played Phase 10 and ate homemade guacamole. Good times!

CAR WASH! DT was thrilled!

*I'm on vacay from work for the next 2 weeks while BossMan and the rest of the B-Bunch travel for school reunions, to visit family and to take a break from the hectic schedule they normally enjoy. I'll be taking care of the house and critters in their absence and intend to remember how to relax a bit along the way. Join me :)

Catching UP with Us Meyer's~ January through June 2013 edition: Part 3 (pic heavy)

May~ Hurray for Devin! I don't normally make such a fuss over a graduation, even though it's always a big accomplishment. However, for some students, it is just MORE of a big accomplishment. Devin is one of those students. School has not come easy for him and he's worked and studied and worked some more and asked for help and studied and worked some more and FINALLY made it to the end of his high school career and we are SO very proud of him! We gladly attended his graduation with his dad Charlie, his 1/2 sister Kelly, and his honorary auntie Karen. The speeches were quite good, and the musical selections shared were well done and appropriate. The volume was way too loud, but I guess that just means they knew we heard them call his name :) So without further ado, some pictures and a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to you Devin!

The angel food cakes prepared with love by Auntie Karen since Devin requested strawberry shortcake as his grad cake.

Patrick, Devin and James. Everyone adores Devin!

Silly boy with cake and presents!

Cute decorations hand made by Auntie Jodi and Tyler

Some of his adoring fans. Plus I needed a pic of Charlie in a dress shirt.

And here he comes, filing in for the ceremony

An excited smile. Been waiting so long for this!

The Color Guard comes in. They were fantastic

Almost his turn!!

YES! It is in his hands!

The balloon drop. Derek was quite excited about this part

All done!

The best gift arrived a bit late. A fleece knotted blanket in his favorite colors from PaPa Larry and Grma LaVonda.

May~ Mud Bash 2013. Who thinks these things up? It's one of the local church's annual events for the area youth groups. The premise is to come and get as muddy as possible. I know that in the areas where mud is not welcome this does not sound very fun, but in the rain starved desert states like NM, this is GOOOOOD times! So it all starts out very innocent, with a 100 foot homemade slip and slide. Anyone who can make it to the end wins a prize. Then comes mud basketball, and volleyball, and throwing mud and oh my goodness, do they have fun! I made D and P sit on trash bags on the way home from this. Totally worth it!
This is the way it looked when we arrived. A little sprinkler going, nothing to worry about, right?

David got INTO mud bash. That shirt will never be the same. The one in his hand, not the one he is wearing. The one in his hand started off WHITE.

Oiy, even on the back?

Patrick ran into his old friend Will and they traded numbers

*sigh* SOMEONE wasn't cooperating with the camera :)

Time to clean up and go home. Patrick enjoyed this part too much.

And on the way home, we got to enjoy this glorious sun set. Not a bad way to end a day.
May~ Little Ollie finds Uncle Dan's Hat
One game night, Ollie found Dan's hat that was still out from a recent trip to White Sands National Park. He plopped it right on his head and started posing for the camera. Little Ham! Anywho, he looked really cute so I snapped a few pics. He's a doll, there's no question about it.

Wordless Wednesday

Only at MY house does any of this seem remotely 'normal' and yes, I use the term loosely, VERY loosely.

Can I come out now please?
A lizard that likes to be cuddled and held like a baby?!? What.On.Earth.....

Is that thing smiling? It certainly looks content. Hope you are enjoying yourself, Norbert.

PS. Kim, I know there are words, but these things HAD to be commented on, don't you think?? *winks*

Mouse Wars...Chapter 3

*sigh* I'm getting REALLY tired of mice. Kristy no likey Mice in her house. *double sigh* Here we go...as of Sunday night the score was Mice:1 MeYeR's:6 and Dan and I were heading to bed. Next scene...the BAD NEWS. Mice are really resourceful, despite having a teeny tiny brain. I got up with Dan at 4:30 and headed into the kitchen to make Dan's lunch. I peeked into the hamster cage and only saw 1 mouse...I rubbed my eyes to make sure I was seeking clearly and yes, to my horror, realized that they had chewed a hole through the roof of the hamster cage and all but 1 had escaped. Make that Mice:6 MeYeR's:1 Not a happy start to my day. I started the coffee pot and pondered what the next step should be. Yea, no idea! Boo! Anywho, I proceeded to start Dan's lunch and hear a tell tale squeak...I peeked behind the fridge and to my delight, 3 mice stuck to one trap...hurray! So, I excitedly called for Dan to hurry up so they didn't get away somehow. About this time 'Shua showed up to pick up Dan for work. He checked behind the fish tank, and we had re-caught that one too! Yeah...now we are moving in the right direction! Dan checked the other traps and when all is said and done on this early Monday morning, we now have 9, yes NINE in the hamster cage that has been reinforced and I also got a large Rubbermaid tote and put the whole thing inside of that box, just in case...LOL! Charlie better come today and get these things!!
Look for chapter 4..coming soon I'm sure : )

Mice:0
MeYeR's: 9 total caught/produced (counting the babies born later that day) 18

PS...on the upside of this whole scene: I've found a new way to entertain the cat...it's like TV for cats! There's only one channel, but she doesn't seem to mind!

Time to Catch Up!

Greetings from Hot, Hotter and Hottest New Mexico! What went on this past week?? Nothing really exciting I guess, just regular family stuff, errands, church, and game night. David and Derek enjoyed another week at day camp. David is (as usual) making friends faster than he can remember names...LOL! Derek really likes his teacher now and (almost) happily goes into class without a fuss, especially on Thursdays since that is WATER DAY! I actually enjoyed running errands by MYSELF last week, took myself out to lunch and generally frolicked like a child in the sprinkler system...LOL~ the church has given me permission to practice the piano whenever I like, so I found my piano books and a hymnal and went and had a marvelous time singing and playing. Good times! Pat is still in IL (sigh) but knowing that he is safe and having the time of his life comforts me...sometimes being a parent isn't comfortable, but you do what is best for them, not you. He may never want to come home again...he got back Thursday from a trip to Great Grandma's house...and he had a ball there! Great Uncle David and Pat hit it off and went fishing together several times, he spent an evening with Great Uncle Kenny who is possibly the most cantankerous man alive and LOVED it! I swear I'll never understand that child...LOL! David and James have enjoyed the newly cleaned and organized playroom and have set up car track in there until they had quite a little city going on in there. Titus plays the part of Godzilla and tramples it since he is now on his feet and into EVERYTHING! Derek is having trouble fitting into the pecking order since David likes him, but James doesn't and those two are always together...it's a quandary, so today instead of playing with them (or tying to) he baked bread with me...and that was a quandary for me...LOL! Oh my, the flour was flying....hee hee hee! Anywho, Dan and 'Shua got the dune buggy going complete with new shocks until Hercules yanked too hard and pulled the pull-cord right out and got a gas shower...have I mentioned that it's never dull here?? ; ) Jodi is on the set right now and won't be back until Thursday evening, so for most of the week it's just me and the multitudinous boys...LOL! We are having a great time so far, the boys had a Monopoly Jr marathon this afternoon, ALL the boys are going to day camp tomorrow and I am going to lunch with a friend...yeah me! I'm really excited about it. Tyler is coming to spend the night with the boys so I don't have to miss work and that is a relief to me. Plus, he can hang out with David on Wednesday and that will earn me brownie points for whenever I need them next. Game night was fun, I had to work so I called everyone and told them to eat before they came over and when I left, Tracy and Karen left also, but Charlie and company were still here when I got home (it was an early night for once) So I jumped back in and played a few rounds. Saturday was spent running errands, playing with the dune buggy and hanging out. Sunday brought church, a lazy afternoon and dinner off the grill. Charlie and company came over and we had a tasty dinner and then watched "Enemy of the State" and then had a lively conversation about our rapidly vanishing civil liberties (don't get me started) All in all, it was a lovely week and weekend. Today started with Dan and 'Shua packing up and heading out of town for the week, and then after I went back to bed, the kitty thought it would be a great idea to dump a glass of water on my head...GOOOOOOOD Morning!! I've goofed on the computer, baked bread, chased some boys, cleaned a bit and generally enjoyed myself today...and tomorrow...lunch with Tracy...it's all good! Thanks for listening/reading my ramblings...hope you are all blessed and used of God this week!
Blessings,
Kristy and the Man Crew

Charlie~ AKA my man, Charlie

OK, not the BEST pic of him ever, BUT in case you can't read the shirt, it wasys, "I'm not TRYING to be difficult, it comes naturally"....and that is just SOOO Charlie! LOL

For whatever the reason, that's what my dad calls him...it's not just plain Charlie, it's My Man Charlie...LOL! I admire the sentiment behind that. I have really developed an affection for Charlie since we moved here. Devin's mom passed away just a few hours after Devin was born and Charlie has raised him alone and that boy is sweet, well mannered, kind and thoughtful. Takes a good man to raise a boy like that. He's honest about the mistakes he's made in his life, tells a great Carl story (LOL) and plays a mean hand of cards....Oh my gravy, I'm making myself laugh! He came over a cooked my birthday dinner so that I could have the day off from kitchen duty, that's a great man right there!! As with most people that I"m thankful for, he is FUNNY, loyal and someone you can depend on in a pinch. He and Dan are great buddies and the boys just adore him and get so excited when he is coming over...when they hear the motorcycle roaring from about 3 blocks away, they are all outside waiting when he pulls up...LOL! Charlie, no disrespect meant, but I"m trying to catch up so yours is a bit shorter than some...I hope you still love me...LOL
