The Best Thing I've Heard All Week

A brilliant friend of mine called her new boyfriend a 'gentleman savage' on Facebook this week, and it struck a chord in me. It...

My Baby is Growing Up...*sigh*

*sigh*...Derek is growing up way to fast for me...He just took his first motorcycle ride with Dan. Don't freak out....just around the block, barely moving...but it about broke my heart. He was a bit nervous, especially about the noise, but insisted on a ride and sat proudly in front of Dan...holding his ears the whole time...hee hee. He about had a fit when Dan said it was Pat's turn...he wanted to keep going. He also started sleeping in his big bed this week...which is always a fun challenge keeping them in it...LOL! Ah, such is the bitter-sweet nature of motherhood.

Onward and upward! We have been busy this week...paying off soem debt and repairing vehicles. Yes, our stimulus check has arrived...it had paid off the van, put a new radiator in it, helped repair the motorcycle, taken us to the movies, bought groceries, a desk chair and a few frivolous items and paid back some friends that we owed. Oh, it aslo bought a few new resources for homeschool via e-bay....100 new reading books and 2 of the fantastic Usborne Internet Linked books...the boys are really enjoying those!

David and Pat are finally closing in on the end of school and are quite happy about that! They are enjoying picnics in the park each week, studying as little possible, making crafts and enjoying the hundred plus weather we are having for the past 3 weeks. They found a baby bird in the park today and were able to pet it...boy were they thrilled!

Dan has decided that he really likes the racetrack here in Cruces and we are starting to make a habit of going each week...the kids like it also. So, I suppose all in all, life is good here in NM. WE are anxiously awaiting the arrival of company in July, Dolli's baby coming next week and the birth of Titus and subsequent arrival of the Starnes entourage. Life is full, GOd is good and I am content...see below. Lost boys, Mama K loves you! Future daughter in love...same for you!

Blessings to all,

What is contentment?

What IS contentment???
~Is it having everything you ever wished for to come true?
~Is it having the perfect husband, kids or house?
~Is it being the best mom on the block, the prettiest or the smartest?
~Is it having the perfect job, hair-do, nails, or clothes?
~Is it having the money to do whatever strikes your fancy...from travelling the globe for fun to giving huge amounts of money to the needy?
~Is it having power, or prowess in a given area of your life?..or all of them?
To all of these I say a resounding NO! Not that any of them are bad...per se, but the desire for the unattainable does NOT lead to contentment, it leads to resentment. God should be where our desire lies and only there at His feet can we find contentment, joy and peace. Having the perfect everything leads to pride and being useless to the kingdom, do I/we want that? Surely not. Power does the same thing; money, even worse. Contentment comes from knowing that at the end of the day, you did your level best to serve God in the way that He wants. Contentment comes from knowing that God will provide all of our needs if we trust Him to do so. Contentment comes from knowing that while we aren't perfect, we will be someday. Contentment comes from living a life for someone other than ourselves and what we can get out of it. Contentment is a deep, abiding peace that can only come from God when we allow it to fill our heart, mind and soul. So, ladies...are you feeling content, or it restlessness plaguing your soul? If it is...get on your knees before God and find out why...is there unconfessed sin in your life...do you truly know HIM...are you resisting His call to ministry or obedience...find out and care for the issue so that you, too, may know His sweet contentment and rest.
I'm not normally this preachy, but I felt God urging me to put these thoughts down....hope you understand where I am trying to go with this. Have a great evening. Tell me what you think true contentment is all about!
Blessings,
Kristy

Settling In...finally?

This has been another busy week in the Meyer House...we FINALLY got all the boxes out....most of the went back to the garage intact since we know that we will be moving soon again, but I wanted a few things out to make it feel more like home. Our room is set up nicely and we are really liking it...with Jodi and boys coming to live with us, I decided that once and for all, I needed to make our room like a cozy little retreat from the outside world...I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I didn't work nearly as much this week and so the house is clean, the meals are planned and we are up to date with school. We went to Grandma Jeanne's house (Dolli's Husband's Grandmother) to swim this week and in less than 2 hours WITH sunscreen on, I roached my face and shoulders...OUCH! But, I impresssed Tyler and Devin with being able to dive well. They thought I was COOL! And then last night, Dan took us the the Southern New Mexico Speedway and we watched the trucks, cars and buggies race for about 4 hours...it was FUN! My head is still pounding, but it was great fun...we all picked the cars we liked and then watched them go. Dad, one of the guys who was winning races last night was 73... no LIE and one of the other good racers was 12! Can you believe that? He was actually in the same race as his Mom...I would have a stroke if I was racing against David going 150 miles an hour...YIKES! The other funny thing was we kept hearing the name Josh and when we finally heard his last name, it was Meyer...who laughed about that one! No big deal really, but it made us smile and think of some of our favorite people. We love you all so much and MISS YOU! Gotta scoot...need some ibuprofin for this headache...LOL! Zoom Zoom!

Blessings,

Kristy

A Busy Week

Hi there! Here in sunny NM, it was been quite warm this week...averaging at least 100 degrees every afternoon for about 10 days now...phew! I have been on the go this week...my job has taken up much more time this week than normal...I usually work between 10-16 hours and this week, due to vacationing team members, a hurt boss, and needing to hire 3 more people, I have worked almost 25 hours! And, I watched Casey 45 hours in 4 days also, so between work, trying to squeeze in home school, housework and cooking, I've forgotten how to sleep this week...LOL! But, God is good and has granted me an extra measure of his grace this week and kept me from getting sick, snippy or cranky, although I did have one day where I was tempted to give someone a piece of my mind. Anywho~ the boys are starting to wind down school for the year, we have gone to 3 days a week and are only really working on the 3Rs at school time and adding history, science, health and geography to our quiet reading schedule in the afternoons when mama needs a nap, or at least some quiet! Dan is still working and is still really enjoying the job and the people that are on his crew. Karen, Dolli and Tyler are getting settled in their new home and so are we. I am working hard at not cluttering up the house with too much stuff, I just keep reminding myself that we are moving again at the end of summer so why bother taking it all out, right? For those of you that were shocked by that last comment, Jodi and her boys are moving to NM at the end of summer to live with us for probably a very long time, possible forever and so we need a bigger house. So, as I look through knick knacks and bric a brac, I keep saying, "We're moving, we're moving, we're moving! Don't take it out!!" LOL! We are taking a break from out of town company for the month of June to regroup and settle in as just us Meyers, and then in July we expect much company...Mike and Jay are taking a road trip that will lead them here for a visit, Ricky wants to come and spend a months or so (OH, MY!) Tony says that he is looking at a road trip in late July or early August, and Josh is considering an extended visit before his upcoming wedding. So, we declared June to be visitor-free so we could enjoy some just us time after Karen's move. It has been nice to have a bedroom again...and a private bathroom is a little slice of Heaven here on earth...I may become spoiled! Patrick is enjoying having his "own" room, since we aren't using it for school this year, it just stores the school stuff...but I find that about twice a week, he sneaks in a bunks with the other two boys...heehee. My girl room is almost finished...no more boxes, no more kitchen things, and all I have left are to hang some curtains, pictures and find the couch cover to make it picture worthy...I even have my beloved rocking chair in here...so nice! When it gets completely done, I will post pictures for all to see. Anywho~it is a lazy Sunday afternoon here and I'm off to take a nap with my Monkey...have a great week! I miss you all soooo much! Lost Boys, Mama K loves you, too!
Blessings,
Kristy and the Man Crew
PS. My girl room is done! I haven't found the couch cover yet, but the rest is done...it looks so great! I am using it right now while I type this...hurray!
