Catching Up with Us Meyer's Sept 2018 Edition

Hey friends, it's been a hot minute, hasn't it? Life keeps on rolling, whether we participate or not, so we might as well play along, right? Anywho, September has been packed full of the exciting and the mundane, so here's a quick overview to get everyone caught back up. 

~Hercules: Is still unemployed in terms of not working for an official business but continues to be the busiest unemployed person I know. He's completed 2 engine swaps this month, fixed up a new-to-us car that he and Dastroyah collaborated on for me, fixed Pat's car 3 times, and Nathan's at least twice and is working on Dastroyah's Datsun as I type this. He's also helped Roger, Teresa and Karen move, put together an estimate to repair a home damaged by flooding, put in new carpet for 2 people and repaired a car for Tommy and Alex from church. Everyone in the family has working AC in their car now (If they are set up for it) thanks to a new technique he learned recently. He's worked on Ricky's old 270 car and a motorcycle that Ricky wants to buy from David. He is considering going into business with Joelle and opening their own little handy-man/auto repair storefront. Somewhere in there, he's made time to hang out with DT playing Mine-Craft, celebrate our 22nd anniversary, attend church and community group, and always be present for Pizza and Movie Night each week as we plow through the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. 

~Mama K: I'm tired just trying to remember everything Dan has been doing. LOL! I also worked my 30-35 hours a week with Jodi, did a solid 4 weeks of school with DT and Mr T., ran the house, decorated for Autumn, cut all the hair, attended swing dancing on Tuesday evenings, Sister-Girl Night on Wednesdays, enjoyed Community Group each Thursday, hosted Game Night on Fridays and church on Sundays. Jody Stolp, Ruby Eley and I did a FULL DAY of batch cooking last Saturday and while we wore ourselves completely out, we had a ball and prepared a full freezer's worth of breakfast foods, which are now being inhaled at an alarming rate by The Man Crew and Friends. (Look for a separate post regarding the baking day soon.) I also FINALLY FINISHED my #HotMess challenge project of getting the SOC room ready to use as a scrap-booking counter so I can leave my supplies out all the time. *Victory dance* I even managed to sort some books, clothes, and other things and filled my donation box to overflowing twice over. So not to toot my own horn, but TOOT TOOT, I was pretty productive this month, too. 

~Patrick: Patrick remains elusive after his grumpy sorta-kinda-maybe move out at the beginning of the summer over the lack of Internet at the MCH. He's been sleeping at Nathan's for weeks and weeks and has recently crossed the street to hang out at The Hooligan House. He comes home to shower, do his laundry, and eat all the food out of the fridge. He also comes home to ask Dan to help him with car projects, and for Pizza and Movies Night. Jodi and I are considering asking him to take school pics of Mr. T and Slick.

~Derek: Derek is working his way through the 7th grade and making progress by leaps and bounds. His tablet and/or Mine Craft consumes most of the rest of his time, if I allow it...because riding your bike/rollerblading/pogo sticking isn't that much fun by himself, and it's still too hot for Mama to intentionally spend much time outside. He did get to attend Home School Day at the Rockin' Jump Trampoline park and enjoyed himself immensely. 

~Dastroyah: Dastroyah still prefers not to be talked about much, but I think it's safe to say that he's working on motorcycle and car projects, still working at the gym, and he attends Pizza and Movie Nights each week.

It's the Little Things: Day 32

  I want to focus on the good things this year.
All the things people get right.
All the times that everything works out just perfectly after we assumed disaster had already struck.
All the times that the right word was spoken at the right moment.
So, let's celebrate those little moments together, shall we?

• It's celebrating (long distance) with your grandson who is turning 1 today. Where DOES the time go? 
• It's LEGO Club at work today having the biggest crowd we've ever had, and all the kiddos playing so nicely together, while us mamas talked shop. 
• It's the start/new beginning of "Thursday Night Games" at our house, since they needed a place to play games once it's become cold and dark early in the evening these past few months. (during the warm months, they enjoy their games outside) 
• It's coming home after everyone has left TNG (see above) and finding that the teenagers and young adults have left your home neat and tidy. Hallelujah!
• It's attending the late showing of a movie at someone else's expense... Someone who didn't want his parents attending TNG. LOL! 
• It's seeing a movie that you didn't have high hopes of enjoying, only to discover it was hilarious and so very enjoyable. (Jumanji)
• It's having a grown son tell you that you can leave the youngest at home during TNG and he will watch him. "And by watching him, I mean sending him to his room and letting him play on his tablet all evening." Ha ha haaaaaaaa, at least he's honest, right?!
  
  Oh goodness, I am enjoying this post style so very much! It's taking the focus off of the struggles, the heartache and the frustrations that are part of this life we live, and putting it on the good, the humorous, the blessing, and the dare-I-say-it miraculous. I'm reminded of this verse found in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."

Now that I'm #NoLongerAPlateSpinner, I'm trying to attend social/cultural events more often. Working like crazy until you die from exhaustion is crazy, it's time to have some fun along the way!

It's the Little Things~Family style

I've discovered as I make this journey through life that it's not the HUGE things that make or break your day, week, month or LIFE, it's the little things. So in celebration of those little things, list a few things that made your day, week, month or life sweeter or brighter.

• Dan says, "I made a cookie recipe" He combined several oatmeal raisin cookie recipes to make the ULTIMATE cookie recipe.
  
• Kristy says, "I enjoyed movie night at home with JUST US MEYER's this week, and it was great!"
  
• 'Shua says, "I got a job!"


• Lauren says, "I got a fancy new haircut." (it's really pretty!!)


• David says, "I enjoyed gymnastics and getting a new rip in my hand that bled.' (BOYS, bleck!)


• Pat says, "I got to spend the night with James." (err, Pat is grounded right now and couldn't think of anything nice to say, so I reminded of the fun he had at James' house...LOL! Writer's prerogative, right??)


• Derek says, "I stayed up late on game night" At least, that's what I think he said...LOL!

Friday Night check in!

Auntie Kristy and Titus with Bath time hair!!

Yeah, I made back to blog on Friday...yahoo! Not a fascinating week, but finally a return to getting the kids to bed on time, an ALMOST full week of school, and getting more sleep again for mommy. But, I also got back to the things I love, spending time with kids, sisters and hubby, baking for the family and hanging out on Cafemom. AWANAS was a HUGE success last week, which was answered prayer and Titus is managing to keep mostly on his schedule, making his life more pleasant and mine more predictable...thank you, JESUS! We are having the usual pizza and a movie night...look at this glorious pizza... anyone wanna come over?? We are watching "Space Chimps" and "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" (it's about Intelligent Design instead of Evolution) I'm pretty excited about it...I know, I know, I don't get out much, but it's OK to be happy at home, right?? RIGHT??? Anywho...greetings to you all and I hope you have a great weekend...just a few other snappies form this week and I'm gone!
