Birthday celebration, round two for this guy. Minecraft with Dad all day today. His gift from Dad and Mama K was several packs of the much anticipated and often requested Pokémon cards. He was pretty excited. He mentioned that he needs some energy cards to make complete decks, so they are on the way, courtesy of eBay.

It's the Little Things: Day 184

I want to focus on the good things this year.

All the things people get right.
All the times that everything works out just perfectly after we assumed disaster had already struck.
All the times that the right word was spoken at the right moment.
So, let's celebrate those little moments together, shall we?

• It's a successful day of work, which involved making kites, walking to the park, watching Mary Poppins, and laughing at the kiddos antics.
• It's being SO ridiculously grateful for Air Conditioning in this insanely hot and humid (for Cruces) summer that we are enjoying. 
• It's having an easy peasy and tasty dinner ready to eat in 5 minutes.
• It's having big kids that means I can slip off to Starbucks around the corner to enjoy a free iced tea and blog for an hour (or two).
• It's that same big kid that still enjoys having me read him bedtime stories. I KNOW I'm on borrowed time and I'm trying to soak up every minute. 
• It's a friend requesting that we have our annual Independence Day bbq and then donating all the money to make it happen. (We are so blessed, guys!) 
• It's celebrating with 'Shua and Lauren over the purchase of their first home and a successful and safe move last weekend. They live 6 blocks from my mom now. Woot for GiGi! 
• It's a friend offering a free Herbalife shake to help me start my weight-loss journey. And enjoying some delightful mama chatter while doing it.
• It's a bestie that calls to ask how things are going...not the socially appropriate answer of fine. How are things TRULY going? And being able to answer without fear of ridicule or a scolding reminder that others are worse off than I am right now. She's a gift, that's for sure.
• It's having brake lights that WORK again after some attention from Hercules and Dastroyah. I feel so fancy and special now! 
• It's a new sermon series by Pastor Dennis that rocked my socks off and caused me to rethink several long held ideas about my commitment to the Lord. And that's always a good thing.

Baby Caden is Nearly One!

Can anyone else believe that this little Punk will be 1 on Thursday? I'm speechless. Where did this year go? He's finally got a tooth or two, he's crawling and cruising, he waves and claps, he says mama and dada and wooooo, and he's starting to finally sleep through the night on a more regular basis.
His gift from GrandDan, {Grand}MamaK and the Uncles of the Apocalypse will arrive on time and they are waiting to open it until Friday when we have a Skype date. They are so sweet to us! I can't wait to see him tear into it.

Presents in the mail! My friend Kimmy made me some cool bags for toting around all my schtuff. They are all lined with PUL so I can use them to hold wet things or things that might leak, or that neeeeed to stay dry (like snacks). Several sizes, some with handles and fun fabric choices (those were a surprise).
Thanks so much Kimberly! It was such a treat to find these in the mailbox today

Day 11: A bountiful box of soap that not only keeps our bodies and clothes clean for the next few months, but enough to share as a beautiful parting gift to a friend who is moving away. Soap that not only smells good, but cleans well, has no unnecessary ingredients and is so beautiful that it needs no embellishments to give as a gift. A soapdeck, and a bar of each coconut, ginger lime and honeysuckle. YES PLEASE!

I shared with the Game Night Crowd this evening as well, and we were all like kids at Christmas, digging through the box and unwrapping bars to smell them. Everyone went home with a pocket full of goodies...good times! Thanks again, Melissa.

Dan has the Gift of Gifts!

Hello to all our friends and family, far and wide! Sorrry I haven't posted for a few weeks, I will try to do better in the future. Not much has been going on recently, due to the flu which my new charge brought over to us...we were thrilled. David, Pat, Karen and I were all down for at least a week...it was GREAT! Anyway, enough about that. We are all doing much better now and are back to our regularly scheduled life. School has resumed and we are finishing up the semester today...FINALLY! David is working as I write this...LOL! I am writing today about Dan. He is about the best gift giver I ever met. He pays attention to the little things I say about wanting this or that and tucks the info away for a rainy day. Yesterday, he came home with a new sewing machine for me...I was Stunned! I have been wanting one for several years since my last one laid down and died. Now I can finish the quilts I started whe D and P were toddlers! Now I can make curtains for our new home! Now I can make placemats, pillowcases and other pretty things! Now I can...mend Dan's jeans...hahaha! I am waiting for my "girl room" to set it up to stay, but I can keep it in my room for now and take it out whenever I have time to sew. I may just sew a few quilt squares tonight, just because I CAN! Thanks Dan, you Rock!! Just wanted to brag on my guy for a minute. I even took a picture of it so you can all see it. To the Lost Boys, I miss you more than words can express! Everyone else, same to you...I can't wait to visit...I'll be there this summer, if I have to walk with all three kids on my back, just so I can hug all my peoples again! To those who owe me a call, I'm waiting. To those whom I owe a call, I'm working on it, really I am! Feel free to send pics and such, they are treasured! Hug each other in my stead.

Christmas 2007 pictures

I just want to post a few pics of Christmas. We had an uneventful New Year's since we stayed home and watched movies and played games. We are endevoring to make better food choices this year and are considering going organic...Yes Rachel, your prayers have been answered! We spent all afternoon today prowling the local health food stores, just seeing what is out there...The amount of choices is staggering! Anywho~ here are some pictures that I hope you enjoy.
