The Best Thing I've Heard All Week

A brilliant friend of mine called her new boyfriend a 'gentleman savage' on Facebook this week, and it struck a chord in me. It...

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY July 13, 2009
Outside my window... it is HOT, HOT and more HOT...phew
I am thinking... that my head hurts because I have my hair pulled too tight. And on a deeper level, that I need to get back to being a Mary instead of a Martha...no more pity parties for me

I am thankful for... much! Life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness, real joy, faith, family, good books, and a good grilled cheese on homemade whole wheat...YUM~O
From the learning rooms... nothing except a Trip to the library later this week
From the kitchen… bread is rising, lunch is in the making, and the meal plans for the week are as follows

  • Monday:Red beans and rice

  • Tuesday: Tilapia, parsley noodles and broccoli

  • Wednesday:Taco soup and grilled cheese

  • Thursday: Split pea soup

  • Friday: Homemade pizza

  • Saturday: Burgers on the grill, pasta salad and chips

  • Stuffed chicken breasts...sides to be announced later...LOL

I am wearing… Ugly khaki capris and a bleach stained t~shirt...working in the back room today and it's gonna get ugly...LOL
I am creating… A clean home, an organized school section, a play room that is usable and a happy Good Will store : )
I am going... to the library, to work and the Good Will store at least once more! Groceries on Friday and Church on Sunday
I am reading... Nothing yet this week...sigh
I am hoping... that all my plans work out for this week~ SO want to get the house organized...tired of the mess
I am hearing... David making lunch, the two goofies at the table crunching their water bottles, Titus protesting as Jodi wipes his runny nose and the fans circulating the cool air so we don't roast...LOL
Around the house... MUCH to do, the big projects being the continued organization/de~cluttering project, setting up the school area, and getting the house back in order after 3 days of doing NO cleaning...doesn't sound so bad until you remember that we are a house of 9 plus all the animals!
One of my favorite things... Time to have a rational thought...it doesn't happen often around here...LOL!
A few plans for the rest of the week… See Around the House
Here is picture thought I am sharing...
It's a video, but it makes the kids think that Dan is soooo cool~ Also I'll add a pic of him welding pieces to make shocks for the dune buggy. He fabricated all of the parts for the whole thing except for the actual shocks. I"m so impressed with him!!

Dan, Dan the Welder man...plus jack of all trades wonder!
This post is a response to the call towards the simple life. If you like this and want to read more of the same style, read them at Grandmother Wren and the Simple Womans Daybook ENJOY!

The Busy~ness, Birthday Bashes, and "Batman Saves the Day" Week!

The Bubble Wrap Stomp....it's a new dance sensation!!

Greetings from sunny New Mexico! We have had a busy and enjoyable week...so let's see...where to start? Well, the big events are these 3...
1. Derek turned 3...when did he get so big?? We had a party and such a time was had by all...the neighbors came, Karen, Dolli and Baby Ryan, plus Charlie and Devin. I baked a cake (from scratch) and he got bunches of coloring books, crayons, cars, undies and socks, a huge truck and some story books. He had sooo much fun on the phone with Grma and PaPa telling them all about his cake with M&Ms on it. After the neighbors and Karen went home, we had our regular game night and as usual, we had a ball, we played spoons and Apples to Apples..man I LOVE that game!!
2. Dan and I went to our first funeral here...the owner of Dan's company, his granddaughter died over the weekend at the age of 21, leaving behind a baby...so sad, so Karen came to stay with the boys while we attended that, which really sent me into a funk for a few hours...so young! And the person officiating the service did a crummy job of using the tragedy of her young death to show people the way to God..I was really annoyed with him by the end of the service...and I sure did miss Bro John! But even that day had it's redeeming qualities....Karen called me the next day to tell me that she had left in tears b/c Dan and I are so happy together...she is just so thrilled for us...that was special to me.
3. She's really coming!! Jodi got a Batman check in the mail Saturday and it is just the right amount to get her here...Thank you Jesus!! She will be arriving by train on August the 23rd, the same exact day that I arrived here last year...isn't that a funny little coinky-dink??

Other than that, it's been a regular week around here, Dan is working, I am working, Little Casey has been coming to hang out with Derek during the day, Dolli has been stopping by to visit, one of the neighbors wants to teach me to knit soon, (oh dear, I hope I can manage it!!) We are loving hanging out together and just being a family! I know, too sappy, but it's true~ just ask Karen...LOL!

OK, just a few requests...
1. Karen NEEDS a job...yesterday! She's been really diligent in the past week or so, but nothing has panned out yet.
2. Keep Dolli and John in your prayers....they want to try to keep the marriage together, but being apart is not helping right now.
3. Jodi will be under much stress in the next few weeks trying to get everything together to move across the country with her little men...for peace, level headed-ness, and more peace!
4. For Dad and Mom, as another one of their kids move away with the grand babies...it's hard!
5. We will be looking for a new place to live not long after Jodi gets here, so finding the right house for the right amount will be key.
OK, now for the fun stuff...a few pics and a video! Mom, I tried to catch it, but I didn't quite get it...when he opened your box, he was so excited about the bubble wrap, that he threw the presents on the floor so he could yell "Yahoo!" and stomp on the bubble wrap...LOL! We miss you all greatly and would love to have more visitors...so, who's coming next??
Love to all,
Kristy and the Man Crew

Derek blows out the candles....what a wind!

Look at that big birthday boy!

Telling Grandma all about his cake with M's!

Hurray for more crayons!! He loves to color!!

A Video Flip and a Wacky Picture~

Well, we got the video of David flipping off of playground equipment and a great picture that is all for Candy! Both really need no explanation so without further ado...

"David is Flippin' Awesome!!"

And Candy...this picture is all for you...enjoy!

I had braided my hair so that It would be wavy..and wouldn't you know it, I ended up having to run to Wal_Mart...just thought you would enjoy it! You can put it right next to Hannah's pic with the 27 ponytails...LOL!
Love you all so much,
Kristy

A Video for MOM...and all you other nosy people...LOL!

Mom, this is for you. A four and a half minute video walk-through of Karen's new place. It needs some cleaning and a bit of love, but it is going to be perfect for her for years to come. Dan and Karen are going to start making trips over there tonight and the big moving day is Saturday. So without further ado...Karen's New House!

OK, after 4 hours of fighting with it...I give up! I will load the video to my flash drive and bring it with me soon...hope that is good enough...LOL!

Love,

Kristy

Dan's Big Day and Other Assorted News

Dan is heading out on a trip for work.

Greetings from warm (55 today) New Mexico. Feel free to come visit, we would love to have you here!! Dan had a first today. He left to go on his first business trip. He is going to a little town about 2 hours from here called Cloudcroft. The local high school has some flood damage and Dan is the project manager on site to watch the other crews and make sure that the sub contractors are doing ther jobs correctly and in a timely fashion. So, he will be gone for the Monday through Friday week and home for the weekends for the next three weeks. So, of course, being the scrapbooker that I am, I took a picture of Dan before he left. Anyway, I will add it and a few others that I have taken the past few days. Ya know, I took a while to get into the digital thing and I truly still prefer my film for real picture taking, but a digital can't be beat for sending pics across the nation. Things in general are well here, we are back into school and Derek is still working on that potty training thing, plus he figured out how to get out of his crib last week...RATS! But he probably won't do it again since he fell and landed on the garage floor on his head. Karen has been fighting off a cold and Tyler is looking forward to seeing the Harlem Globetrotters this week. Dolli will be coming home at the end of Febraury for the duration of her pregnancy and until John gets stationed elsewhere...no sense in going back just in time to move again right back to the states. I hope this finds all of you in good health and better spirits. Those of you who I haven't talked to in a long time, Call me these next few weeks while Dan is gone, I'll have a better chance to chat with you without cutting into HIS time...LOL! Just a little reminder to a few of you...Patrick's birthday is Friday, and he will be 9. He is looking forward to it big time and is really wanting a turtle, bouncy play yard balls for in the trampoline and wants to go bowling and see the new "Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" movie. That's about it for now, except that we miss you all so very much. Lost Boys, Mama K loves you! Hugs and Kisses to you all...Share them with one another.
Blessings,
The Man Crew
PS. A quick prayer request: Any of you that know Tony Rogers, he was run over by a car on Wednesday and is in very poor shape. They are keeping him sedated due to his violent outbursts, but are still discovering injuries. Pray for his speedy recovery and a new direction in his life!
David and Pat say goodbye to Daddy.
These two don't have anyhting to do with anything, but they sure do look cool. And these dice are great for Farkle...Farkle anyone??
