The Best Thing I've Heard All Week

A brilliant friend of mine called her new boyfriend a 'gentleman savage' on Facebook this week, and it struck a chord in me. It...

Help Is On The Way- by TobyMac

There is no question that this past year has been a challenge at best, and a life-changing devastating loss at worst. TobyMac offers a reminder that God is still at work, even when all seems lost. This has become my new anthem. Give it a listen...or 6, and see if you don't start to feel a little bit better about everything that going on in the world at large, and your world at home.

I wrote “Help is on the Way (maybe midnight)” after a season in the valley of sad songs. With a broken heart after losing my firstborn son and stepping almost immediately into quarantine everything was dark. I woke up one day and turned to the Psalms. I read that “God is rolling up His sleeves”. What beautiful imagery. This picture turned me from having hope to yelling it from the rooftops. The God of all creation is rolling up His sleeves on our behalf. What a promise. We are not forgotten, not at all. That very morning I started writing;
“It may be midnight or mid day,
never early, never late
He’s gon’ stand by what he claims,
I’ve lived enough left to say…
help is on the way”.

#RedeemingTheQuarantine: March 27, 2020

#RedeemingTheQuarantine:
While New Mexico has only been on official stay at home orders since Tuesday, March 23rd, (4 days ago, we've already been at home for 2 weeks. For the past several days, a very blasé, let’s-sleep-in-because-who-cares attitude has reigned supreme. I woke up today ready to face this quarantine head on with renewed determination to not waste this time.
So, I got a workout in. I spent some time with Jesus. I cleaned the kitchen approximately 42 times (Hercules and Slick are snackers/grazers). Dan and I planted a small victory garden. I took a little drive around town with Hercules. I read. I destroyed my manicure. I talked to most of my people. Hercules and I watched Zumba’s Just Desserts and laughed together. I did some work-related things with Jodi via Zoom. My mom sent me some childhood photos of me. I ordered a phone/camera tripod so that we could try next week to host Game Night via Skype. I cleared off 4 “Flat Surface Areas” and pushed some furniture around. Enjoyed a BLT on homemade bread for dinner...take THAT Quarantine-Induced Pantry Challenge. 😉 Overall, not a bad day at all.
And now, it’s 10:30pm and Hercules went to pick up something from a friend “real quick”....3 hours ago, so I’m taking this tired body and my raggedy nails and going to bed.

How are you coping, friends?

#RedeemingTheQuarantine: March 20, 2020

#RedeemingTheQuarantine:
What did you today so that your brain doesn’t fall out and to keep yourself from going stir-crazy?
I read in Sahara and another book, worked out (WiiFit is super), did the last shopping trip, and scored some toilet paper, read the news, talked or texted with my people, delivered groceries to my quarantined Sister-Girl, hollered at The BIGS to stay home for the love of humanity, made disinfecting reusable wipes, caught up on laundry and dishes, disinfected all the door handles and light switches in the house, snickered at some hilarious memes and in general tried to stay busy.
How about you?

#RedeemingTheQuarantine: March 18, 2020

#RedeemingTheQuarantine
I’m currently curled up in bed with a good book, some homemade Chex Mix, and Pandora is playing my favorite station. I’m enjoying having more time to read. In fact, I am currently 2 books ahead of schedule for my reading goals this year.
What are you doing with your “extra” time at home?

#RedeemingTheQuarantine: March 15, 2020

Making spice mixes, tidying and taking stock of the pantry, sharing links to educational activities and websites, heard a great sermon by Pastor Roy, hole-punching and filing my recently printed recipes, and Chex Mix is about to come out of the oven. Yes, it has already been a great day.
