The Best Thing I've Heard All Week

A brilliant friend of mine called her new boyfriend a 'gentleman savage' on Facebook this week, and it struck a chord in me. It...

#100HappyDays: Day 43

Day 43 of #100HappyDays
I've tried not to share more than one photo for each of these posts, and I've also tried to avoid making collages, but these were too cute not to share! As I looked through my SnapChat pics today, I discovered these of DT and Judah from Sunday.

I love-Love-LOVE that my boys love little ones so much! They all take such good care of any little one who passes through our door
and our arms.

Please to note that in one of the photos, Judah has fallen asleep. He crawled up on DT's lap and they played until he just conked out. Precious!

A Grand Surprize!

Guess what?? Guess who is going to be a Grandma? GUESS?!?
>>This girl right here<<
Woohoo doesn't even begin to express it. SO stinkin' excited! Dan and I recently found out from our beloved 'Shua and Lauren that we were going to be joining the ranks of grandparent-hood. This post is long overdue, but we were asked to keep it quiet for a while until they were ready to share it with everyone. It was such a fun secret to cherish long before everyone else.
After MUCH deliberation, discussion, and trial and error, we decided on names that cover who we are without stepping on any of the other grandparents toes.  Dan shall be Poppy D, and I shall be {Grand}Mama K at the suggestion of Lauren, although the little one will just call me Mama K.
So, the countdown begins until our little one arrives. He/she is due on the 27th of February 2017.

Congratulations to The Boy and our Darling Daughter in Love!

Catching UP with Us Meyer's~ January through June 2013 edition: Part 3 (pic heavy)

May~ Hurray for Devin! I don't normally make such a fuss over a graduation, even though it's always a big accomplishment. However, for some students, it is just MORE of a big accomplishment. Devin is one of those students. School has not come easy for him and he's worked and studied and worked some more and asked for help and studied and worked some more and FINALLY made it to the end of his high school career and we are SO very proud of him! We gladly attended his graduation with his dad Charlie, his 1/2 sister Kelly, and his honorary auntie Karen. The speeches were quite good, and the musical selections shared were well done and appropriate. The volume was way too loud, but I guess that just means they knew we heard them call his name :) So without further ado, some pictures and a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to you Devin!

The angel food cakes prepared with love by Auntie Karen since Devin requested strawberry shortcake as his grad cake.

Patrick, Devin and James. Everyone adores Devin!

Silly boy with cake and presents!

Cute decorations hand made by Auntie Jodi and Tyler

Reading the grad cards

Some of his adoring fans. Plus I needed a pic of Charlie in a dress shirt.

And here he comes, filing in for the ceremony

An excited smile. Been waiting so long for this!

The Color Guard comes in. They were fantastic

Almost his turn!!

YES! It is in his hands!

The balloon drop. Derek was quite excited about this part

All done!

The best gift arrived a bit late. A fleece knotted blanket in his favorite colors from PaPa Larry and Grma LaVonda.

Dan and Devin doing their special handshake routine :)

May~ Mud Bash 2013. Who thinks these things up? It's one of the local church's annual events for the area youth groups. The premise is to come and get as muddy as possible. I know that in the areas where mud is not welcome this does not sound very fun, but in the rain starved desert states like NM, this is GOOOOOD times! So it all starts out very innocent, with a 100 foot homemade slip and slide. Anyone who can make it to the end wins a prize. Then comes mud basketball, and volleyball, and throwing mud and oh my goodness, do they have fun! I made D and P sit on trash bags on the way home from this. Totally worth it!
This is the way it looked when we arrived. A little sprinkler going, nothing to worry about, right?

David got INTO mud bash. That shirt will never be the same. The one in his hand, not the one he is wearing. The one in his hand started off WHITE.

Oiy, even on the back?

Patrick ran into his old friend Will and they traded numbers

*sigh* SOMEONE wasn't cooperating with the camera :)

Time to clean up and go home. Patrick enjoyed this part too much.

And on the way home, we got to enjoy this glorious sun set. Not a bad way to end a day.
May~ Little Ollie finds Uncle Dan's Hat
One game night, Ollie found Dan's hat that was still out from a recent trip to White Sands National Park. He plopped it right on his head and started posing for the camera. Little Ham! Anywho, he looked really cute so I snapped a few pics. He's a doll, there's no question about it.

Catching UP with Us Meyer's~ January through June 2013 edition: Part 3

Just a quick one as I only have a few minutes before dashing off to the next appointment. Let's see here, what can I share quickly?
February: Ollie turned 1 :) Happy birthday Ollie, welcome to an exciting new year of you life as you grow and change so quickly!
The Happy Schwinn family: Ryan, Kelsi and Ollie

Mmmm, birthday cupcakes are so tasty!
Mama K got a juicer for Christmas and to be honest, I'm a wee bit intimidated by it, so it hadn't gotten much use right away. Dan, Derek and I decided to give it a go one day in February and enjoyed the drinks very much. Derek is afraid of it while it's running, but lingers close by so he can have the first drink. Silly boy!
Yum, look at all the healthy stuff!

Bwuahahah! Trying to catch every last drop of goodness!
February: Dan bought himself some drywall stilts for work. The lowest setting is 2 feet high. Gracious! As if he's not tall enough already. I nearly stroked out when David and Patrick tried them. That's a little much even for this brave Mama. David was running on them in less than 30 seconds, Pat did NOT like them, and within 10 minutes, Dan was going up and down the stairs in them. OH MY WORD! I did NOT try them, much to Dan's disappointment. And I can live with that :)

Catching UP with Us Meyer's~ January through June 2013 edition: Part 2

Here we go again, trying to catch up on some of the fun things going on at the Man Crew House these past few months. Let's dig into the pictures to remember all the silliness!

January: Patrick turns 14. He's been waiting and anticipating and and and...for so long! And now the day has actually arrived! He's a REAL teenager now because 13 is just a warm up year, dontcha know? :) That's my boy! He enjoyed it all very much. Birthday Game night is always fun, and with PaPa and Grma here for his birthday, how much better could it get?
Hey there Handsome Boy! Thanks for sharing your birthday smile with us!

Oh yes! A short sword, which he has been asking for. Daddy found it and brought it home for him. He was ecstatic!

We even made his favorite meal, Chicken Club Brunch Ring. (thank you Pampered Chef!)
PaPa and Grma gifted Pat with the much asked for iTunes card so he could download a few new apps on his iPod. Woohoo!
Patrick was even kind enough to share the frame with DT. DT was pleased to share the photo op
January: OLLIE! Oliver is the sweet little son of our friends, Ryan and Kelsi. He's just a joy to be around and as you can tell, that's not just me saying that. We all just adore his smiles and spend hours playing with him. Thanks to Ryan and Kelsi for sharing him with us <3 br="">
Ollie gets a shoulder ride from 'Uncle' Dan
Sweet sweet face! I could gobble him up!

Patrick, AKA the Baby Whisperer is just great with Ollie, and the feelings are mutual, I assure you!
January: Mike and Ricky came to visit for a few days! Ricky was honorably discharged from the Navy after his 4 years were up, and he was up in Washington state, so Mike flew out to meet him, and they took the long way home by way of California, New Mexico and THEN home to Illinois. It was great to see them both and the 3 Amigos had TOO much fun goofing off, working on Ricky's car and antique shopping together. Good times! Thanks for coming to see us! And remember, what happens at the Man Crew House, stays at the Man Crew House *winks*
Mike Hanna, my BIL.
Ricky Bean, our adopted nephew from Mike's side of the family

Dan, Ricky and Mike, or as they are better known, the 3 Horsemen of the Apocalypse. :)

So Much to Tell!

It has been a busy 2 weeks here since I wrote you all last, so I will TRY to keep this brief, but I make no promises...ha ha! I think I shall use bullet journalling as it lends itself to brevity.

  • Dan is still working, but is sitting around most days playing his video games. He would rather work, but I'm just glad that he is employed. ; )

  • Tyler turned 15 this week...where DOES the time go?

  • The boys have discovered the wonderful game of spoons and want to play it every night...spoons, anyone??

  • We made it through the month of June with no visitors, but found ourselves getting lonely, so we were all kinds of excited when Mike and Jay announced that they WERE, in fact, going to make it down here for a few days.

  • They arrived safely last night about 10ish. We all stayed up way too late chatting, even Derek was up past 11pm...and then Mike cooked me breakfast...I like that!!

  • Dolli and John welcomed their little one into the world on Friday morning...a baby girl named Ryan Elizabeth...she looks just like her daddy except for the dimple in her chin which is all her mama...sorry no pictures yet. They are both well now, Dolli is having trouble with her blood pressure and Ryan is struggling to keep her blood sugar at a good place, but both things are doing better each day.

  • The boys finished school on Friday and boy were they happy about that! I also am looking forward to the break that summer brings for me...time to work on other projects, like learning to can veggies or do a little scrap booking, finish that book I started 5 months ago.....

  • For those that don't know, Josh and Lauren have postponed the wedding, which is probably a good thing...a little extra time to grow up and closer to each other.

  • Jodi has managed to still be hanging on to Titus, although it's my opinion that now he is wedged in there so tightly he couldn't come out if he wanted to....ha ha!

  • Work is going well for me, they FINALLY hired a few new people to fill out the crew and now were are working more like 8-12 like we are supposed to, not until 4 am like 2 weeks ago...that's just NUTS!!

  • I'm running out of things to tell you but I saved the best for last...

  • When I got home last night...my 'Shua was here! Mike and Jay brought him along...YEAH! I feel like my little family is complete, at least for a few days. Hurray!

I suppose that's about it for now...I'll keep you posted on any other new developments...but first a few prayer requests...

  • Jodi~that baby has to get out sometime...and soon! She is uncomfortable and tired of being pregnant...the fun is over!

  • Mike, Jay and 'Shua for a fun visit and safe travel home

  • Dolli~John and Dolli are having serious marital issues and are considering a divorce...please pray against this and for a renewal of their marriage especially with their new addition.

That's really and truly it this time...I love you all so much! Missing you and can't wait to see you all again...hopefully soon!

Blessings,

~Kristy
