The Best Thing I've Heard All Week

A brilliant friend of mine called her new boyfriend a 'gentleman savage' on Facebook this week, and it struck a chord in me. It...

Sparky's Run with the Man Crew Motorcycle Club and Friends

The view from here: A sweet Sunday cruise up to Sparky’s in Hatch with the Crew. We actually rode with quite a crowd of bikes and even a few cars. The weather was awesome aside from the wind and the food was fantastic. Good times!

Self Care Day 28: Listen to yourself.

Self Care Day 28: Listen to yourself.

This is an important one, friends. Stop and listen to yourself on occasion. Self talk is so important. Staying hydrated and getting enough sleep can not be emphasized enough. Boundaries, Boundaries, BOUNDARIES...I am slow to learn this one, but OH the difference it makes.

Self Care Day 27: Pamper Yourself

Self Care Day 27: Pamper Yourself

#SelfCare

I didn't have a massage today, but I did schedule one for next week and I feel like that is a step in the right direction. And everyone knows that I LOVE to go out to eat. So, progress...

Notes to Myself Today

 Notes to Myself Today:
Which one hits home for you?
Number 4 was an oh-so-gentle reminder that I need to be part of the solution, and not part of making the problem worse.
That'll preach. I mean frankly, there's a whole sermon in those few lines of text. And I just stomped on my own toes, so...there's that. Time for some changes in my attitude.

Happy Mail from Kimmy

Kimmy! My #HappyMail box showed up today! So excited! Thanks again, they are so awesome!

With mask mandates lasting much longer than we had originally anticipated due to the lingering effects of Corona Virus, it was time for Mama K to get some new masks for work so she wasn't doing mask laundry every day. These specially-made masks from Kimberly were the perfect additions to my collection.

Happy happy chickens! Usually, I’ve been getting 3 eggs a day in various rotations of colors, meaning most hens are laying every other or every 3rd day. But today, I found 6 waiting for me when I went out to open the coop. Yes! All the pretty colors and size variations.

I haven’t figured out which of the LunaChicks are laying yet (and I can’t really tell them apart since 5 are practically identical) but Black Plague lays brown eggs, Nutmeg lays blue, Clove lays green, and I think the one LunaChick that has different coloring than the others lays that pretty ivory rose color. The other LunaChicks lay white...I think.

#ManCrewChickenCoop Updated to add: As it turns out, I was incorrect about the ivory rose and white eggs. Gray Beard, the one LunaChick that has different coloring, is laying the white eggs, and the other 5 LunaChicks are laying the ivory rose. I hit the jackpot this week, finding 9 eggs in the nesting boxes. 1 Brown, 1 Blue, 1 Green, 1 White, and 5 Ivory Rose. These ladies know it is SPRING TIME!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Since we can't be together today for your birthday, I'm going to enjoy the memory of last year's birthday, which was a glorious day indeed.

Happy birthday, Mom!
We have done ALL the things today, from being invited to breakfast by Ricky, having coffee and donuts with Karen, trashing the kitchen at least 3 times, teaching Makenzie how to make graham cracker cake, enjoying a special dinner together and laughing over some games. Good stuff!

Self Care Day 24: Set Goals for yourself

Self Care Day 24: Set Goals for yourself

I set myself up with some pretty large goals this year and I am working my way through them, bit by bit. One of this is this post, and the many others like it. It is nearing the end of February, and I've already blogged much more than the last 2 year combined! I'm loving being creative this way. Check my 2021 Goals post over here, which I will be updating monthly with my progress.

There's a Vacuum Salesman at the Door...

This delightful young man came over today to practice his new Kirby sales pitch. Despite the fact that I got a lovely vacuum for Christmas, I really wanted to purchase the Kirby when he was finished with his demo.

Local friends, if you are in the market for a really fantastic vacuum/home care system, please let me know and I’ll get you connected with
Christopher Martinez
for a demo in your home. I can’t BELIEVE how much better my carpet looks!

I'm working on this with renewed passion this year. Especially with all the activity at Acton, I need to feed myself well. And it is serving me well.

Someone's Asleep on my Couch!!

Man Crew House rules: if you fall asleep on my couch in broad daylight, you’re gonna end up on FB. Mark is enjoying the age-old tradition of a Sunday afternoon nap after a delightful day of breakfast, board games, video games and a late lunch all together.

Spring Activities for Caden and Thea B

Every other month or so, {Grand}MamaK puts together a care package for the Grands. I look for fun, educational, seasonal, developmentally-appropriate things that they can enjoy. Things like books, puzzles, fine-motor skills activities, role play costumes, and Montessori style 'works'. Because while I enjoy a good movie night and sugary treats like most people, I want to be a grandma that feeds the whole child, not just their tummies. (I also don't want their parents to groan every time I send a package, LOL) One of this month's goodies is a pincer grip activity that is built around bees, which not only covers the spring theme, but goes along well with our little Thea B's nickname. Caden is really enjoying it and I am DELIGHTED!

Next month's box is already in the works, and I can't wait to send it! St. Patrick's Day, Easter, more Spring...whee!

The View From Here: Riding with Hercules

 The view from here:

I can’t believe there was snow on the ground only 4 days ago!

Yesterday is heavy. Put it down.

I found this on Sweet Blessings' page this morning and it really resonated with me.

Yesterday is heavy. Put it down

No matter what you faced yesterday- a broken relationship, some sort of argument with a friend or family member, a yucky conversation, the big mistake you made, the fact that you got nothing done on your giant to-do list, that sin you can’t seem to shake- today is a new day- full of God’s Grace and mercy.
Many days will leave us broken, beat-up, and barely hanging on. And you know what? That’s okay. There was enough mercy for that day. Lamentations 3:22-23 says: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” and is a beautiful reminder that there are new mercies every single morning (Praise the Lord!).
Yesterday is heavy- put it down. We must lay down yesterday & not dwell on it, fix our eyes on Jesus, and cast your burdens on him, again- each and every day. My prayer this morning is that we are able to lay yesterday down and be reminded that God’s mercies are new this (& every) morning!
